Where does my money actually go?
Your gift funds Canopy's own planting along the Ravi, a tributary of the Indus, near Lahore, planted and maintained on the ground with the Ravi Indus Project. Every step is logged: payment received, funds allocated, receipt issued, field evidence uploaded, impact confirmed. The open ledger on the donate page shows every gift.
How do the tree packages work?
Packages are sized bundles of trees: Seedlings (3), Copse (15), Grove (30), Forest (150). Or a patch you size yourself. Every package is priced per tree: £10 plants about three trees, £100 about thirty. Tree counts are estimates until the field programme reports. You pick a package and review your planting order before checkout.
Can I give Zakat through Canopy?
Yes. Every gift is given either as Zakat or as Sadaqah (charity from anyone, of any faith or none). The handling of Zakat is grounded in classical scholarship through Canopy's collaboration with Cambridge Muslim College.
Is this a live donation platform?
Not yet. This site is a demonstration: the donate flow records gifts for illustration only and no payment is taken. UK company registration is in progress, completing June 2026.
What is a tree code?
Every settled donation receives a code like TREE-XXXX-XXXX. It represents every tree that gift funded and opens them on the living map: a satellite dive to the planting region, a growing 3D tree, and growth and carbon figures. Those figures are species-and-age estimates, and the pages always label them so.
How is my impact tracked?
Field teams upload GPS-tagged photographs and steward reports, cross-checked against satellite imagery. Trees are geolocated by region (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan), with an 87% field-verified survival rate.
Can I try it without a code?
Yes. From the Track your impact page you can step inside a sample tree (or a sample grove) without any code, to see exactly what a donor sees.
Has Canopy actually planted anything?
Not yet. Our first planting begins once the first milestone is reached: on the Lahore Canal Bank, along the Ravi, a tributary of the Indus, planted and maintained on the ground with the Ravi Indus Project. Every tree will be geo-tagged, tagged with its donor's ID and photographed weekly.
Who are the project partners?
On the ground, Canopy's planting is delivered by the Ravi Indus Project in Lahore, which restores river-basin land along the Indus tributaries and is inspired by the UN Living Indus Initiative. WWF-Pakistan (reforestation and landscape restoration), SolarAid (clean solar energy replacing kerosene) and Recharge Pakistan (nature-based flood resilience in the Indus Basin, backed by the Green Climate Fund) are the organisations Canopy intends to work with next; their details on this site come from their own published materials, with sources shown.
Who is behind Canopy?
Three founders working between Cambridge and Pakistan: Daniyal Ashraf (logistics and fundraising), Hanniya Kamran (climate research and strategy), and Sarim Gillani (technology and partnerships). Canopy topped the Cambridge Climate Challenge 2026.
